What is this site about?

As you can see, this site is called "Break the Chains". It's based on a book written by our wonderful Admin, Hachiubi. The premise behind the story is that there was a gender war where women fought to rise above the male gender. They won, of course, and created a chemical known as "insert name here" to turn men into the perfect breeder. These men are referred to as Breeders; women use them mostly for the purpose of making children to keep up ratios and prevent extinction, though there have been cases where some women continue to go back to the same Breeder just for sexual pleasure, or even because they've fallen in love with them. However, Breeders are not able to get married and while the chemical slows down their aging process drastically, it also eventually causes them to go mad with lust, where they have to be put down by members of the Guard. In the portion of this female supremacy that everyone is being introduced to, the male population has dwindled drastically due to an increase in female children.

What time period is this site set in?

To put it simply, it's set into a futuristic world where technology has advanced at an alarming rate. Medicine is extremely effective, limiting the amount of viruses and diseases spread among the community. On top of this, the internet is completely eradicated now, leaving instead a superior information force called The Wire.

What is the Wire?

The Wire is the main source of information for everyone. It contains information on all of the Breeders, the Guards, and all of the citizens. However, several things are blocked from the Wire, such as information on how the gender war started and the Director herself. Even the resistance is completely hidden from the Wire, though no one knows how. Basically, any sort of information you'd want to look up about anyone else, excluding those three things, will appear on the Wire. It's also the main source for communication and it's monitored by the Guard and the Director. Its security is rock solid; no one save for those who made the Wire or who work with it on a day to day basis can infiltrate its security. Breaches have been made, but none were successful.

Who are you and who is Hachiubi?

We are your amazing, all-powerful Admins. We control Aiden and Markus respectively and control the site's main plotline and aesthetics. We also take care of pending people joining the site, pending applications, and many other things. Upkeep is our main focus, but we have many other jobs too, including keeping you all entertained and wanting to come back. If you want any personal information about us, like hobbies or likes or interest, you can go ahead and chat us up in the Shoutbox or even send us a quick PM. We're both more than likely going to be on here quite a lot and should respond rather quickly to anything pending or any PMs in our inboxes.

Is there any chance that I could become an Admin or Moderator?

Like every great site, there is always an opportunity to rise in status. Hachi and I won't be looking for anyone right now, but depending on how quickly the site shoots off, we might be looking for people very soon. Just remember that several things are on our minds when we do staff searches: first and foremost, members have to be active. If you want to be an Admin or a Moderator, you have to make sure that you are going to be active on here several times a week. We know that everyone has a life and school and work, but if you want to be someone as important as taking care of and maintaining the site, you have to be able to get on a decent number of times a week. Secondly, whoever we choose for an Admin or a Moderator has to be friendly with the community. Any flamming or being rude is already a no-go on this site; helpful criticism, however, is welcomed. Just remember: be kind to your fellow members. They, after all, will be the main help in determining new recruits for Admin and/or Moderator status!

If someone's bothering me and is flamming/being intentionally rude/racist/etc, how do I go about getting an Admin to look into their behavior and punishing them fairly?

MAKE SURE YOU SAVE CHAT LOGS!! If at any point someone is being rude, racist, or is flamming you, please be sure you save your chat. Take a screen shot. Copy and paste into a Word Document - anything. Don't let it get eaten by the Shoutbox, please. Otherwise, we just go back and forth into a he said, she said thing and we can't do anything about that. Try to see if you can have someone else on the site come on and bear witness to it/save a chat log as well. It's always better when another party backs you up. After that, depending on the severity of the situation at hand, the member in question will either be given a strike on our warning system for their personal account, be banned for a set number of days, or even banned completely. Please note that all racism/sexism is not to be tolerated and will result in an automatic complete banning from the site.
